Suncreen Basics – The bottom line is just wear a good SPF 15 and it should be labeled Broad Spectrum for full UV protection.  SPF numbers beyond 50 have such a slight incremental difference that it’s almost not worth getting them. SPF of 15 confers 95% protection from burning and skin cancers and SPF 50 gives you 98% protection- going up after that, the percentage becomes so incremental. • Balance Your Oily Skin - Masks help to absorb excess oil and clean pores. • Exfoliate - Exfoliation will help your skin to better absorb moisturizer and sunscreen. It’s so very important to exfoliate your skin. Your body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you don’t get rid of them, they’ll just sitting on your skin making you look dull and dry. • It’s C for the Summer – Vitamin A products can make the skin more sensitive to the sun.  You will still get the anti-wrinkle benefits but vitamin C will help protect against UV rays as well. During the summer months, it would be smart to switch to a Vitamin C based skin care.  Revage Medical Spa offers an array of vitamin C products from Obagi and PCA product lines.
• Acne patients  - Revage Medical Spa skin practitioners recommend their acne patients to find alternatives to Accutane, Retin-A, and Benzoyl Peroxide if they plan on spending time in the sun. All three acne treatments make skin more sensitive to the sun, making skin more vulnerable to sunburn. Switch to an Alpha hydroxy accids (AHA) or Salicylic Acid routine for the summer. AHA do not increase the skin’s burning potential nearly as much as the aforementioned products.
