We all know that there are some many needs in our community this Christmas. If you are in the spirit of giving, there are several different things you can do to help whether it is giving a gift or donating your time.  

Toys for Tots – Help make this a Merry Christmas for the valley’s youngsters by donating to the Marine Corp Reserves Toys for Tots program. Channel 8 and Smith’s grocery stores are accepting new, unwrapped toys at their locations.

Salvation Army – Volunteers are desperately needed for the Christmas Angel program and toy distribution at the Silver Nugget Casino. Volunteers are also needed in the malls to collect gifts. If you are interested, call Anna at 870-4430 ext. 101.

Catholic Charities – Volunteers are always welcome to help serve food to the homeless at the St. Vincent Lied dining room. Call 366-2072 or 366-2073 to sign up. Also volunteers are needed to help with Christmas toy distribution, call 385-2662.

Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth – You can make Christmas happier for a homeless teen by getting them something from their wish list. You can call Jeremy at 372-6482 for more information. The center also needs: Hot chocolate mix, beanies and gloves, bath and shower towels, pocket warmers and $5 gift cards for fast food restaurants.

Three Square – Food is needed to help local families make it through the holiday season. Three Square is a food bank supplier for non-profit groups.

Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign – The annual bell ringers for the Salvation Army raise money that funds shelters, meal programs and emergency assistance. The money raised in the kettles represents more than half of the Salvation’s Army income. All that spare change adds up!

Make a difference in someone’s life, whether it’s a gift or a donation. It’s amazing how much richer you feel by giving.
